Coming of Age of a Society Makes for Desperate Times? Wednesday, 8 March 2006

GB thinks so in his comments to my blog on Desperate Times. I think it isn’t so much of a society coming of age but rather that times are different and that morals are changing. Perhaps it is even perceived that law enforcement is not as strict as before? Maybe the newspapers are picking up on these sensational news in Singapore more than before? It’ll be sad if a society matures and evolves to a state where societal ills and vices are more rampant. If anything, I think it opens our eyes to the fact that there are a darker side to everything. It’s all around us really. It’s a matter of when and where things happen. And no, I never thought Britain was really unsafe, GB. If I may say so, I felt safer in the UK and parts of Germany than when I was in Paris.
